Wire EDM Company Serving Wichita Falls, TX
Need short runs or small batches of highly accurate, tight tolerance components from a wire EDM cutting shop?
Trusted Worldwide Since 1963
Natura Products, a wire EDM contract manufacturer with deep roots in cutting die manufacturing, is based in Northbrook, Illinois, USA and serves customers in Wichita Falls, TX. We have 60 years of proven experience and are trusted by some of the most recognizable companies in the world for wire EDM services. We excel at wire EDM machining and production of high-quality, high-precision parts in the automotive, electronics, pharmaceutical, aerospace, nuclear, medical and petroleum industries.
Wire EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) — sometimes called die sinking, spark machining, "cheese-cutter" EDM or arc machining — can machine extremely hard materials such as monel, titanium, kovar, hastelloy and inconel to very tight tolerances. It can also machine steel, brass, and other metals. Wire EDM can handle intricate, detailed and complex patterns unsuitable for traditional machining methods.
Wire EDM can:
- Machine hardened or heat treated material, eliminating risk of distortion from secondary treatments
- Create accurate prototypes with shorter lead times
- Machine sharp, square-edged internal cuts
- Cut intricate contours and cavities in pre-hardened steel without the need for heat treatment
- Machine fragile sections and weak materials without distortion
- Output accurate, predictable, repeatable results during every production run
- Output very fine surfaces
- Handle complex shapes, narrow slots, and fine holes that are difficult using conventional cutting tools
- Cut extremely hard material to very close tolerances
- Produce small quantities including prototypes
- Produce very small pieces
How Wire EDM Works
Wire EDM uses precisely controlled electrical discharges — sparks — created between an electrode and a workpiece. These sparks produce intense heat and melt a small path along the workpiece. The spark is very carefully controlled and localized. A wire acts as the electrode and slowly passes through dielectric fluid before and after passing through the workpiece. Dielectric fluid acts as an insulator, flushes eroded scrap particles, and cools the workpiece. The wire passes through the workpiece similar to how a woodworker's band saw passes through wood. Unlike a band saw, there is no direct contact between the wire and the workpiece. The spark occurs between the workpiece and the wire, allowing for machining without distortion of the workpiece.

Natura Products is certified by UL DQS Inc. to the International Organization for Standardization ISO 9001:2015. We are an affiliate of Chicago Cutting Die and a global supplier of high-performance matched dies, stamping, and wire EDM. Natura was established in 1963 by a former Chicago Cutting Die employee, Dick Brettner. Dick named his new company after his first customer: the Field Museum of Natural History.
Dick was a talented die maker and a trusted outsource partner of Chicago Cutting Die for decades. When Dick retired in 1985, Chicago Cutting Die's holding company acquired Natura Products. In 1995, both companies moved to Northbrook, Illinois. The companies now share a facility and a commitment to precision, quality, and personal service.
